Planning SAYHU's Digital Archive

Hello SAYHU community! We hope you'll join us for this first of a series of info sessions/conversations/skill-shares/workshops through which we will begin building our SAYHU Preservation Project.

In an effort to document and create awareness around the diverse lives of South Asians in Houston, SAYHU Preservation Project (a component of the work of South Asian Youth in Houston Unite - SAYHU) aims to conduct and preserve oral histories from South Asian Houstonians and build our own digital archive. SAYHU intends to make these oral histories and accompanying archival materials available to the general public for educational purposes through a digital archival repository we have constructed.

Come learn about the online archive we are making and the feminist methodology that we use to do oral histories, in order to be sensitive to existing traumas and specific concerns of among South Asians in Houston.

We welcome your ideas, suggestions and various contributions. We are seeking volunteers to advance this project as a part of SAYHU's vision (www.sayhu.org).

Please message us with any questions at info@sayhu.org, and plan to join us on Monday, September 30th at Hotel Ylem (8080 Main Street, Houston, TX) *We'll be in the hotel conference room. RSVP on Facebook.
